The hubby and I had discovered the beautiful Oakley Court hotel earlier on in the summer on a rare “date day” where we literally stumbled across it and ended up spending a relaxing few hours drinking Pimms (me) Cider (him) sat by the sparkling River Thames on deckchairs soaking up the sun. Having spent the previous 3 months solidly changing nappies I can tell you, It. Was. Amazing.
We were lucky enough to return to this beautiful nappy-free haven in August, as clever Mr Y managed to get hold of tickets for their “Live and Unwind” weekend. Literally it was like they invented a weekend just for me! So the weekend starts off with an outdoor screening of Grease (best film ever) made even better by prosecco, popcorn and BBQ food. Just a lovely atmosphere with everyone getting cosy on their picnic rugs (note to self – next time take blow up sofa)
Following a lovely nights sleep in a 4 poster bed, the next day the hotel grounds gets transformed into a mini music festival with live bands playing all day, and lots to do for the old(er) and young – among my favourite parts were the amazing balloon modelling guy (you have to see it to understand!) afternoon tea on a boat and the nicest cocktail I’ve ever had.
Needless to say we had a fantastic time and will definitely be back next year. Highly recommended, do it, do it.
